I’m Audra, a Software Engineer creating thoughtful user experiences that tackle big, meaningful problems. Outside of work, I balance life on the pickleball and tennis courts and find that a walk with my dogs is the perfect way to reset. Dive in to see my work and learn more about the person behind the code.
I believe the best engineering doesn't only solve a technical challenge; it solves a human one. From my time building and architecting systems for Vanguard clients to launching a brand-new patient portal at Solace Health, I deliver valuable user-focused solutions. I thrive at mission-driven companies where the work has a positive impact on people’s lives and where engineers play a role in both technical solutions and product strategy.
Beyond the codebase, I foster high-trust, low-ego environments where we assume the best in each other. Additionally, I am committed to closing the gender gap in technology through my years volunteering as an instructor for Girls Who Code and mentoring the next generation of builders.
Since September 2024, I've been working at Solace Health with the mission of restoring the promise of the American healthcare system by building a platform that supports clinicians, advocates, and patients. As a product-focused engineer, I've turned high-fidelity designs and complex technical constraints into a functional, secure, and resilient platform. I ensure that as we scale, the beauty of the user experience never breaks.
Previously, patients relied on email links or support calls to manage their care and needed more autonomy over the scheduling process. I leaned into my understanding of the patient care journey to effectively plan when patients would need to set up specific types of visits, having a test-driven approach. To meet our launch date, I strategically identified "no-regrets" work that I could build out before the high-fidelity designs were completed. The result is a seamless, in-app experience that reduces the manual load on our support teams and gives patients clear agency over their schedule.
As demand grew, our providers needed a way to add flexible availability without overhauling their entire weekly schedule. I deep-dived into iCalendar standards to build a robust system that supports recurring events and custom availability blocks. I focused heavily on testing timezone math to ensure that what the physician sees always matches what the patient bookings show. It is now part of the backbone of how we coordinate care.
Our advocates were spending hours manually digging through disconnected resources to find the right information for their patients. I built the frontend of a chatbot experience with a focus on smooth state transitions and animations to make the tool feel responsive and intuitive. When project needs shifted, I stepped in to refine the underlying logic and guardrails to ensure the information surfaced was always efficient and contextually accurate. This became the quarter’s top-performing feature. Advocates reported being "blown away" as it turned a tedious research process into a single conversation.
